The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce has a variety of special events throughout the year. Special events are great opportunities for businesses to advertise and network. Brief descriptions of our annual special events are listed below - click on the event title for more information.
Chairman's Ball - Honoring the past year's accomplishments and looking forward to the year ahead, the Annual Chairman's Ball, held each January, is a night of celebration. The event will honors outgoing and incoming Board Chairmen, as well as other chamber members who were instrumental in the growth and success the chamber experienced in the past year. Chamber members, dignitaries and their guests can expect to enjoy a rewarding evening full of entertainment, dinner, dancing and fun including a silent and live auction to raise funds to help fuel the work of Chamber in the coming year. Chamber Golf Classic & Party on the Green - The Annual Golf Classic, held each Spring, is the Lake Houston Area Chamber’s largest and most popular fundraiser of the year. The tournament is also preceded by the Annual Party on the Green which features a night of great food, cocktails, music, putting competitions, auctions and more all underneath a big tent on the greens of the golf course. Stars & Strikes Bowling Tournament - This debut event will occur July 17, 2010 at MaxBowl. Teams of 5 will play 3 games, shoes included. A buffet lunch, trophies, goody bags, auction and more will provide cool relief from July's sun and hot fun for all. Lake Houston 10k 5k & Wellness Fest - The Lake Houston 10K/5K will help put our community on the map as a place to come for health and wellness events and give your company exposure to many residents of our area in particular and the Greater Houston area as well. In addition, this will be a great opportunity to showcase Lake Houston as a vibrant area to visit, thus providing greater exposure for our local businesses. In it's inaugural year, the Run will be held on August 28th at Kings Harbor. Businesses can set up a tent at the Wellness Festival to reach all the runners, kids and adults in attendance. Women's Expo - Women's Expo will be held in November 4, 2010 at the Humble Civic Center. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a scholarship endowment for women at Lone Star College-Kingwood. Peace Officer/Firefighter of the Year Luncheon - Honoring our hometown heroes, the Peace Officer/Firefighter of the Year Luncheon is held in the Spring each year and is hosted by the Chamber's Government Affairs Committeere. An “Outstanding Peace Officer” award and “Firefighter of the Year Award” will be presented to one officer/firefighter from each area department or station that displayed outstanding character, valor, and/or community service for the past calendar year. Teachers of the Year Luncheon - Held in October each year, the annual Teachers of the Year Luncheon recognizes an outstanding teacher from each campus at Humble ISD, Spring ISD (schools east of I-45) North East Christian Academy and Lone Star College-Kingwood.
